Gladys Aylward Heroic Missionary

Saviour of over 100 Chinese orphans during the Japanese invasion, 1938.

In our 28th November auction of Antiques & Collectables we sold an archive relating to Gladys Aylward - a Christian missionary who saved many orphans during the Japanese invasion of China. A film starring Ingrid Bergman was made about her titled 'The Inn of the Sixth Happiness' in 1958. She was also celebrated on 'This is Your Life' in 1963. This group of items, estimated at £300 to £500, sold for £3800 hammer, which is fitting for such an historic lot.
