Lockdales' last Fine Sale auction of the year was held on Wednesday with sales totalling £197,850 (including premiums). There were many highlights in the jewellery section, at the beginning of the auction, including a Victorian navette diamond and emerald cluster ring which sold for £900, and a vintage amber beaded necklace which hammered down at £1,050. The highest hammer price of the auction came in the wristwatch section, when a gents Rolex Oyster chronograph wristwatch (pictured below) sold for £19,000. The silver and plated ware attracted strong interest from bidders and the highlight amongst the paintings, pictures and prints was a pair of Chinese silk tapestries which, after some fierce bidding, eventually sold for £3,000. Rounding off the auction were ceramics and objects of virtue, which saw a 17th century Dutch maiolica plate sell for £2,500 and an unusual bird automaton music box hammer down at £1,700.

Our next Fine Sale will be held in February 2023, and we would be happy to hear from you if you have anything that you would like to consign. Our full schedule of auctions for next year will be published soon.
