Holy Cardboard!

1960s chewing gum cards have been performing consistently well in our Paper Collectables auctions, but in our most recent one we sold a series of counter-top display boxes. The demand for these was staggering! This packaging which was mostly thrown-away by shop owners, has barely survived, and we were inundated with enquiries leading up to the sale. This for example, a selection of A&BC loose Batman cards with an original shop carton made £2000 hammer!

Civil War News cards and repro Confederate notes in display box: £1700.

Philadelphia Chewing Gum Corp, War Bulletin cards & boxes: £1050

Somportex Thunderbirds cards and counter box (damaged): £850

We'll certainly be on the lookout for these on our travels!
