Lockdales most recent specialist auction was a busy affair with two auction rooms operating on both days and sales totalling £421,470 (including premiums). Demand was particularly high for ancient and hammered coins and a superb Anglo-Saxon Kentish wolf sceat sold for £1250. The Cigarette and Trade Card section saw some of the main highlights of the auction with the highest hammer price of £1700 paid for Duke’s (USA) Histories of “Poor Boys” & Other Famous People – booklets – featuring American celebrities of the 19th Century including Mark Twain, Thomas Edison and Edgar Allan Poe (pictured below).

Our next auction of Coins and Collectables is scheduled for 19-20 November and we are open for consignments until 14 October.
