A group of trophies once belonging to a star of early competitive cycling will be coming up for auction on 24th June at Lockdales. Lot numbers 565 to 570 are all related to Clarence Brickwood Kingsbury, NCU title winner 1907 to 1912, and twice Olympic gold medallist at the 1908 games in London.

Clarence Kingsbury was from Portsmouth, and a civic reception was attended by a crown of 60,000 to celebrate his successes. In fact these trophies were once proudly displayed in a Portsmouth pub which he took on later in life. His two daughters Leonie and Thelma went on to be Britain's leading badminton players in the 1930s.

We look forward to seeing how this collection will perform in our forthcoming auction of Jewellery, Watches and Silver on Tuesday 24th June.
