We are delighted to announce THAT Lockdales have chosen to support Tools with a Mission, a UK wide registered international development charity based in Ipswich.

Lockdales has teamed up with Ipswich based charity Tools with a Mission in a move to raise funds for the charity and demonstrate Lockdales' commitment to supporting local charitable organisations.

Tools with a Mission collect donated usable tools, including electrician's, builder's, carpenter's and garage workshop kits as well as sewing and knitting machines, and computers. They recycle and refurbish them, sort them into 'trade support kits' and send them to the developing world for livelihood creation. They currently send around 20 containers filled with over 400 tonnes of recycled and refurbished tools to a myriad of projects across Africa every year. All these tools would have otherwise have ended up in landfill across the UK.

In addition to tools the charity receives donations of other items, some of which are of value. It is these items that will now be taken to Lockdales and auctioned to raise money for the charity. These items have included militaria, scientific instruments and even a Bronze Age axe head.

The relationship works both ways as Lockdales' customers sometimes bring items such as old Singer sewing machines in for valuation, and are often happy to donate these unwanted items to the charity following advice that they have no great monetary value.

‘We are delighted to have been approached by TWAM and to become involved with such a hands-on and proactive charity. Lockdales are very much looking forward to helping raise any extra funds that will go towards supporting such a worthwhile cause.’
