23/9/22 Lockdales most recent auction was a busy affair with two auction rooms operating on both days and sales totalling £421,470 (including premiums). Demand was particularly high for ancient and hammered coins and a superb Anglo-Saxon Kentish wolf sceat sold for £1250. The Cigarette and Trade Card section saw some of the main highlights of the auction with the highest price of £1700 paid for Duke’s (USA) Histories of “Poor Boys” & Other Famous People – booklets – featuring American celebrities of the 19th Century (pictured left).
Our next auction of Coins and Collectables is scheduled for 19-20 November and we are open for consignments until 14 October.

2/9/22 We have had a hectic week at Lockdales with our latest Fine Sale auction on Wednesday and Thursday totalling sales of £333,000 (including premiums). Buyers were particularly keen to bid on jewellery, watches, silverware and objects of virtue. Victorian jewellery and vintage watches proved especially popular. An stunning 18ct gold, sapphire and diamond cluster ring (pictured left) hammered down at £1100 on Day 1 of the auction. One of the many highlights on Day 2 was a classic gents Omega Speedmaster automatic wristwatch (lot 595) which sold for £3,000. Our next Fine Sale is scheduled for 26-27 October and we are open for consignments until 16 September.

26/8/22 Fresh in from a Roadshow Valuation Day this week. A first edition of Grapefruit by Yoko Ono, but what makes this copy particularly special is the fact that both John Lennon and Yoko Ono have signed the introduction leaf. A very nice find indeed! To top it off later the same day we got a copy of Sixties by Linda McCartney brought to us. We opened it up to find signatures of both Linda and Paul McCartney. Our valuer Alan McIlwain said 'The chances of finding these two books signed is hard enough, but on the same day! I think I need to buy a lottery ticket.' Both of these highly collectable books will go under the hammer at our Toys, Antiques, Books & Ephemera auction in October
