Keeping Our Customers Updated During the CoronaVirus Pandemic

During the current unprecedented circumstances, we're happy to announce that we've been having more bidders register to bid online than ever before.  This in conjunction with postal bids and telephone lines, looks sure to make our auctions a success, in fact the recent March Online Auction achieved total sales of over £600,000.  Some policies going forward:

Online, Postal and Telephone Bids Only

Due to the precautions necessary to ensure the safety of our staff and customers, our doors will not be open to the public this weekend.  Bidding will take place entirely online, or by postal/commission bids, or via telephone.  It will not be possible to attend in person on the auction days.


Despite our wishes to remain open for viewing, in light of the recent announcement made by the Prime minister 

it is with the greatest regret that we will no longer be able to keep our doors open to the public.

As from 24/03/2020 Lockdales will be closed to the public until further notice.

 We urge you to use the online facilities to view as best you can and please call or email for any extra information you require. Our hard working staff are all doing everything they can to be as supportive and helpful as possible and we thank you all for your loyalty and patience. during these very difficult times.


First time online?
We want to reassure those of you who will be bidding online for the first time that once you have registered, you will discover how easy and convenient remote/online bidding is.  We are also offering a refund of the £3 up-front fee for bidding online via EasyLive.  This will be in the form of credit deducted from your invoice.  This credit will stand even if you are not successful in your bids, and can be deducted from future purchases.

Please don't worry if you feel you are unable to make use of the online bidding platform, we have ensured that plenty of telephone lines will be available on auction days for our regular customers.  
Please get in touch to book a phone line as soon as possible.  Otherwise you may of course leave commission bids with us directly by phone or email.

Collection of auction lots by appointment only:
Lockdales continues to offer an excellent, secure postal service which we encourage you to make use of.  Otherwise collection of auction lots from our premises must be 'by appointment' so that we can manage the necessary precautions.

Collections will be available in the days after the auction not during.
Please do not come to collect over the auction weekend as there will be a strict "locked doors policy" in operation.  The doors will remain locked to the public for the duration without exception.  Thank you for your consideration.

Going forward:
Lockdales will be continuing with online and postal sales for the duration of the Corona Virus pandemic.  A huge proportion of our national and global audience already use remote bidding in one way or another as their preferred option, and will not be "put off" by these current events.  We have a really fantastic auction this weekend, containing such high quality material, that the collecting community simply won't pass up the opportunity.

Consignment of lots for future auctions, by appointment:
We welcome consignments, by post and by appointment.  We advise those consigning for future auctions to focus on the kind of lots which may be communicated easily: For example, a single coin can be presented, sold and sent easily without needing to be viewed in hand.

These measures will stay in place until the current events have passed.
