The Trevor Spencer Wherrett Collection of Norwich Mint and Other Hammered Coins & Tokens:

Mr Trevor Wherrett (16th December 1951 - 14th September 2009) spent virtually all his life in the Wickford and Basildon areas of Essex. He was employed for most of his working life in an administrative capacity with the Civil Service in London and was working for Basildon Borough Council at the time he passed away. For many years he had an interest in coins and was a member of the British, Rochford, Hundred and Essex Numismatic Societies, with active roles in the latter two. He was also a long-standing member of the Ipswich Numismatic Society. He was responsible for much of the spade work involved in the preparation and running of the successful 1987 BANS Congress in Chelmsford.
One of Trevor's other major projects was the production of a film entitled "Essex; It's Coins", which was created in the 1970's with the able assistance of Joe Bispham. It was shown a number of times at numismatic meetings and other venues, and it is hoped to transfer it to digital format in order that it may be viewed with modern equipment.
At the time of his death Trevor and his wife Martha were planning his retirement and contemplating a move to Norwich. This is a city in which Trevor had a special interest, which is reflected in the theme of his coin and token collection. Many of his best specimens are of the Norwich Mint, making this an important sale for collectors of that area. All provenances and old tickets have been kept with the coins:
